This month: Self-Monitoring CCTV v. Professional Monitoring CCTV

Should you monitor your CCTV yourself or use a professional monitoring service ?

Self-Monitoring CCTV

With a Self-Monitored System, many customers simply record CCTV video in the knowledge that should something happen they will have a record of what took place. In this way action can only be taken after the event.

Self-Monitored customers can also have their systems configured to alert them by email or text when an event actually happens, prompting them to look at their cameras and decide what action to take whilst it is actually happening. The alert could be triggered by a motion detector, infra-red beam, door contact or burglar alarm for example.

Self-Monitored customers can view their cameras in 3 simple ways;

  1. Best is a PC, lap-top, or an iPad, iPhone or smartphone. Software is free and it is free to watch via a local cable or Wi-Fi link.
  2. On a single TV or all of your TVs.
  3. On a dedicated monitor with the cameras displayed such as in a shop.
